Why target size beats a quality slider

Can I compress an image to an exact number of KB?

We target your limit as closely as possible and typically land just under it. Hitting an exact byte count isn't possible with lossy compression, but we always show you the real result.

Which format should I choose?

You don't have to — this tool automatically tries the best formats for your image (WebP first for photos, PNG or WebP if it has transparency) and picks the smallest one that meets your target.

Is this different from the JPG, PNG, or WebP compressor pages?

This page accepts all three formats and lets FitImage choose the best output automatically. The format-specific pages are for when you need to keep a specific output format, like JPG for compatibility.
